Digital Services FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions on Social Media, Email Marketing, and Website Management
Email Marketing & Automation
A19. Most of the time it’s about how and when you ask. People are used to giving their emails for perks or privileges. And then if you don’t spam them with emails to prevent user fatigue and you provide value instead of being heavy-handed with your CTAs (calls-to-action) you can nurture a strong list.
A20. Yes! I can set up various triggers and email sequences.
A21. I’ve used Mailchimp in the past but I can use any platform you’d like. For my business I use custom PHP scripts.
A22. Yes! I can craft and send custom html templated emails that match your brand’s colors and feel to customers or leads.
A23. For recurring email of moderate value once a month is an expected content cadence. You can supplement that timing with other forms of content but a weekly newsletter hits user fatigue.
A24. If you collect the data that differentiates the customer segments then of course I can send the different segments different sets of emails.
A25. There is no secret sauce that doesn’t burn through customer trust. You test different subject lines and see what formulas work with your audience. But most importantly, keep the promise made by the subject line. The best subject lines promise something cool and deliver something even better than what was promised. That gets the email opened today and the next email opened tomorrow.
A26. Getting flagged as spam is mostly a function of the behavior of the sender. If you want to send a thousand emails in ten minutes the danger is real that you’ll get dinged. I craft email campaigns that are compliant with the CAN-SPAM act, that provide value to the receiver, and that aren’t being sneaky about what we want from them. Businesses do business.
A27. I can do either. If you want to maintain internal controls of your voice, that’s just fine. But a lot of people need help knowing what to write and I can do that too.
A28. Yes! Most major e-commerce and point-of-sale (POS) systems provide API access or webhooks to track abandoned carts. I can use that to trigger email follow-up.
A29. Open rate and CTR are tracked by pixel or URL wrapping. Almost all modern CRMs and Email Service Providers (ESPs) handle URL wrapping and open or conversion tracking pixels automatically. So I may only need to implement something for you that you already have available.
A30. There are various services that can be used to clean raw email data and attempt to verify a list to cut out the invalid addresses. It’s almost never 100% accurate but it does help tremendously. The industry standard service is EmailAwesome, which I recommend.
A31. The following are the basic guidelines: No deceptive headers or subject lines, include a valid physical postal address, provide a clear and visible opt-out mechanism, and honor opt-outs promptly. Local clients are within the United States so GDPR compliance isn’t a priority, though it is a consideration if I have a non-local client.
A32. I actually prefer that kind of campaign project. The data of a campaign (capturing clicks by pixel, capturing emails, customer conversions) are better salesmen for my work than I am.
A33. If you need this kind of testing (for a custom HTML templated email, etc.) I use mailtrap for basic functional testing. Make sure you request this service in the scope of work.
A34. Yes, most of these types of services allow for custom coded connections between them. That can change the scope of some work, but I’ll work with you if you find you want that kind of integration.
Business Website Management & Optimization
A35. We support and manage all major Content Management Systems and website platforms. Our core expertise includes WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, and Joomla. Modern platforms share intuitive content-management philosophies, we can adapt to custom or lesser-known systems as well.
A36. I can handle routine maintenance including updating, rollbacks, or backups.
A37. I start with standard scans using Google PageSpeed Insights and Lighthouse. Once we identify problems we can find a solution (such as reducing image sizes, cleaning up the site code, etc.)
A38. Yes! I can find and correct bad links, customize 404 error pages, and make 301 redirects.
A39. I can improve SEO, AIVO, and JSON_LD Schema. I can also manage responsible Digital PR and Off-site Citation.
A40. Yes, I can. Updates are generally part of digital management retainers.
A41. There are built-in developer functions in popular browsers and widely available browser extensions to test how a website appears on various hardware to ensure basic functionality. Depending on the complexity of your project that works for most business sites.
A42. I am certified in Data Analytics by Google. I can monitor your traffic and usage for you.
A43. I can develop landing pages, change the copy on your site, and create customer journeys with reduced friction to help you capture and convert more customers.
A44. Yes, absolutely. | While our primary focus is growing your traffic and conversions, I can handle technical infrastructure management to ensure your campaigns run smoothly. While it does constitute an expansion of scope I can handle those kinds of problems.
A45. Booking forms and pop-ups are typically made possible with APIs or other simpler functionality but Chat Widget functions have to have a supportive backend (such as a Discord or Telegram bot or Websockets). I’m not familiar with those but if you need that functionality I can help you find a solution that works for you.
A46. Your hosting service has already given you the infrastructure to keep you secure from hackers. Safety is mostly about culture. When I build you a custom solution I start at the safest level to protect the custom code from being directly inspected by other developers. It’s up to you to handle your hosted email inboxes and other means of internet communication with safety. Be careful what links you click, what emails you open, and what plugins or code snippets you use.
A47. I can do site refreshes. I like to incorporate business solutions to help you with your business because very often just a different looking site is not the answer by itself.
A48. Communication channels are part of the master services agreement you signed when work began. If you need to change how we communicate just contact me. I can work with you.
A49. Search results in modern SEO is about more than just a few quick changes. It’s obviously a disaster to have nothing filled out or to have old information that needs updated, but it’s not a “silver bullet” fix.
A50. Yes! The cadence of reporting is monthly unless you need more frequent updates.
Social Media Management
A1. Yes I can! My business education combined with my digital marketing certifications give me a unique skillset to determine exactly where you should be focusing your attention on social media (or if you should be focusing on social media at all, it’s not necessary for every business).
A2. It depends on the business. Some businesses do better with photos they’re taking on-sight. Others need someone to come take photos. There are even businesses who are taking photos when they would do better with product or service images from product manufacturers, distributors, or stock photography sources. We can accommodate every need.
A3. I produce content before you need it. That gives us time to discuss a campaign direction and time to go back and change important things before anything goes live. But I suspect you’ll love the service and with an occasional email or call you’ll love what I produce for you and empower us to help your business grow.
A4. It depends on your goals. Most professionals advise at least once or twice a week for any platform as a baseline. That keeps you on the mind of just a small fraction of your potential customers but it does so consistently. You reach more people the more you post. What is your goal?
A5. It depends on the scope of work we’ve agreed upon. Just content creation is not social media management. But if I’m your manager I answer all social media questions. Handling basic questions is just part of the service. Escalating complicated questions or customer service needs are taken care of however you’d like them to be handled.
A6. I was a Meta Certified Digital Marketing Associate. I have experience within the meta ads manager. I can set up ad campaigns, A/B test ad variants, create local, national, or international campaigns. All done for you.
A7. Social channels for business should drive business goals. Followers and likes are vanity metrics if they make you no more money. There are various ways for me to partner with your business to report real performance indicators.
A8. Yes! You rarely need to delete an account or start completely from scratch, but you must accept that old, disengaged followers won’t interact, which temporarily depresses your engagement rate. But it’s not the end of the story for your socials.
A9. I can provide packages of custom made graphics, templates, and other assets for your business. But I am ethically obligated to assess whether that’s something you really need.
A10. For social media management user signals are a better metric for digital success than every change in the code on any platform. Algorithms are changed many times without even noticing users.
A11. I actually prefer that kind of campaign project. The data of a campaign (capturing clicks by pixel, capturing emails, customer conversions) are better salesmen for my work than I am.
A12. For daily tasks I’ve used FPTraffic but that’s not the industry standard and has no native way to show a client the end result. I can provide mockups to show you what posts will look like if you need that (either from a custom solution in python or a platform of your choice, if you want the industry standard, such as Planable, please let me know while we’re signing a scope of work).
A13. I don’t recommend deleting negative comments. They represent engagement and give you an opportunity to address issues publicly and professionally. For common complaints we can systematize a response and address it in the broader campaign or operationally as needed.
A14. Absolutely! In fact, if you don’t have it filled out you need it filled out immediately. The Google Business Profile is how most people see your business. Without it, you don’t exist.
A15. I use Flick.social to find competitive hashtags for you and help push your content and maintain a good rate of discoverability.
A16. All copy generated by me is catered to match your present voice and for most instances of writing copy for you I give you the chance to oversee the work. AI is not yet good at maintaining the context of a business mission statement. You can take all the material previously produced by a business and make a rough approximation for a new project with AI but it still needs a good copywriter to edit and fix it before posting.
A17. A good social media plan leaves room for different posts at different parts of the sales funnel. Community building is part of that top-of-funnel work that brings in a lot of people that you can trim down and qualify as business leads. I’m always thinking about keeping people engaged and re-engaging leads. The metric is conversion.
A18. Most of the time a discovery call, short meeting, or a few emails gets me up to speed with what you need and expect from me and vice versa.
